Watermelon Berry Slushie

August 6, 2016 by Vanessa Leave a Comment

We were just at the farmer’s market this morning and the watermelons were HUGE! It’s definitely time you tried by Watermelon Berry Slushie before summer produce is out of season. It couldn’t be simpler to make either especially if you wash your fruit when you purchase it. Then, you can just get up in the morning or come home from the gym and fire up the blender.

Why pay for a blender drink from a smoothie bar when you can make this at home and benefit from having leftover melon in the fridge? If you’re not sure what to do with leftover melon, check out my recipes for Watermelon Blueberry Feta Salad with Mint. It’s gorgeous-looking (great to take to a summer potluck) and it’s easy on the waistline.

This cold slushie includes tastes of the season with ripe watermelon and berries. It's like a hug in a glass.

Cucumber Mint Raspberry Detox Water

June 24, 2016 by Vanessa Leave a Comment

It’s water. Unless I’m parched from a morning dog walk or at the gym, I don’t drink the doctor recommended daily amount of the water.

I may now. This tall glass of H20 is delicious and refreshing!

Add freshly sliced cucumber, sprigs of mint, drop in a few raspberries and you’re on the way to Water Flavortown. Try a refreshing glass of this detoxifying water and get the benefits of adding healthy nutrients to your system.

Every spa you go to serves cucumber water in the relaxation lounge, but why? It’s incredibly detoxifying.

Water detoxes your system while the cucumbers add Vitamin B and potassium. An anti-cancer herb, peppermint is know for soothing your stomach. Lemon contains citric acid that aides in digestion as well. Also, the ripened raspberries contain flavonoids that increase brain power.

It’s incredibly refreshing and much better for you than artificially sweetened water. Try it today!
